Meet Linda Gardner, Admissions Director

  |   30th street, Aaron School, Elementary School, High School, Lower School, Middle School

Linda Gardner joined The Aaron School in 2003 as the Director of Admissions. She is one of the original hires, making her a lifer! Linda is an experienced childhood educator with a passion for helping students grow both personally and academically, and enjoys seeing students reach their potential.

Linda is responsible for advising students and families on the application process; conducting admissions information sessions; and reviewing and rendering decisions on more than 300 kindergarten through 11th grade applications each year.

She comes to us from The Reece School (New York, NY), where she began as a head teacher in 4th and 5th grade. In that role, Linda taught all core subjects (including math, literacy, science, social studies and writer’s workshop); used positive reinforcement to establish a supportive and encouraging classroom environment; implemented differentiated instruction and lessons using technology; and collaborated with the grade level team to plan cross-curricular projects. She then became the Learning Specialist where she worked 1:1 with students in the area of reading and math remediation. Linda developed lesson plans focusing on each child’s specific needs, administered assessments and compiled data to drive instruction, assisted with motivation and organizational skills, and maintained communication with students’ teachers and parents. After that, Linda established The Reece School Development Office and along with her partner, wrote grants for The Reece School’s new building. Linda was also the Director of The Reece School summer program for 4 years.

Linda received her B.A. in Psychology from Hobart and William Smith Colleges (Geneva, NY), and earned an M.A. in Learning Disabilities from Columbia University Teacher’s College (New York, NY) and a SAS from Columbia University Teacher’s College (New York, NY). She holds an Elementary Education Certification from New York State (K through 6).

Outside of work, Linda loves spending time with her husband and two sons. She also loves yoga, meditation, and running.
