5th-7th Grade Spring Dance

  |   Aaron School, Middle School, Special Programs

On Wednesday, May 23, the 5th-7th graders had their annual school spring dance. This event was hosted by the upper school teachers and staff of Aaron School 45th Street. The dance was “super hero” themed, and boy did they show up with their dancing powers! The Middle School students helped by making flyers and decorations for the dance. Students made posters, masks, props, and even a backdrop to take photos in front of before entering the gym!

All of the students have worked so hard this year, that it was time for them to let loose! For the middle schoolers, this was a great way to relax before their final exams. For the fifth graders, this was their chance to get to know the Middle School students, as well as the teachers, as they transition into next year. All of the students danced, and even most of the teachers!

The dance started with “DJ Gold,” M206’s Laurie Goldberg, setting the mood with, “Tonight’s Going to be a Good Night” by the Black Eyed Peas. The sixth and seventh graders selected most of the songs that played throughout the night, however, DJ Gold did take requests as the dance progressed. Throughout the night, there were several “dance-offs.” Everyone got the chance to demonstrate their best dance moves. Students and teachers participated in the “Cha-Cha-Slide,” “Electric Slide,” “Macarena,” and limbo! They were cheering each other on, and encouraging others to join in.

When they weren’t dancing, students and staff enjoyed pizza and a variety of juice and sparkling water. Towards the end of the evening, students were surprised with an ice cream and Popsicle treat! Everyone in attendance had such a great time, and so many memories were made. We’re already looking forward to next year’s dance!
