PATTERNS, PATTERNS EVERYWHERE
45th Street welcomed a special guest for a book reading and workshop on Thursday!
Kellie Menendez, author of Patterns, Patterns, Everywhere, joined us to share her book and her love of patterns found in nature, sound, the city, and beyond.
Patterns, Patterns, Everywhere is a stunning picture book that invites young readers to explore the bold, beautiful patterns all around them. Recognizing patterns is a key part of early childhood development, helping children sharpen their reasoning and sequencing skills.
Kellie read her story to the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classes in the library. The students were engaged and she encouraged them to not only spot visual patterns but also to think about the patterns they can hear, feel, and create. The students came up with beautiful ways they heard patterns, horns and sirens, felt patterns, tapping on their legs, and create patterns, by drawing!
Patterns, Patterns, Everywhere is a beautifully illustrated book with layered designs that captivated the children and the staff members alike. It is a book that turns pattern-finding into an exciting adventure while nurturing a child’s artistic and cognitive development!
