Starting Strong: A New School Year at Aaron 30th Street

September at Aaron 30th Street is all about new beginnings. As students return to the classroom, the first few weeks of school provide an important opportunity to reconnect, establish routines, build relationships, and set the tone for a successful year ahead.

Building Strong Routines

Across classrooms, teachers are helping students develop routines that support organization, independence, and active participation. Students are also reviewing the principles of S.O.A.R.: Self-Control, On Task, Accountability, and Respect. These expectations help create a supportive school community where students can feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and learning from one another.

Getting Back into the Classroom

While September is a time of transition, students have already begun jumping into meaningful learning experiences. Writing classes are reviewing foundational writing skills and beginning to explore new topics and projects. English classes are introducing new texts and building skills related to comprehension, character development, and theme. In Social Studies, students are beginning to explore new historical topics and make connections between the past and the world around them. Math classes are building problem-solving skills, reviewing key concepts, and applying mathematical thinking to new challenges. Science classes are encouraging students to ask questions, make observations, and think critically about the world around them. Across all subjects, students are practicing important skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, communication, and self-advocacy that will support them throughout the year.

Creating Connections

Some of the most important work that happens in September goes beyond academics. Students are reconnecting with familiar peers, welcoming new classmates, and settling into their new classes and routines. Class discussions, group activities, and community-building opportunities give students the chance to share their ideas, learn more about one another, and become comfortable participating in their new classes.

A Year Full of Possibilities

September is only the beginning, and there is so much to look forward to. From new books and writing projects to school events, collaborative activities, Senior Projects, and opportunities for students to showcase their learning, the year ahead is full of possibilities. We are excited to watch our students continue to grow in confidence, independence, and academic skills throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Here’s to a great year ahead. Go Falcons!
