STEAM Fair at Aaron 30th Street
On November 7th, Aaron 30th Street students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate curiosity, creativity, and collaboration at this year’s annual STEAM Fair. Organized by the STEAM department, the event took place in the Aaron School gymnasium and featured student projects from Science, Math, and Art classes. The fair showcased students’ hard work and their ability to apply classroom learning to hands-on, real-world experiences.
Throughout the week, students in science classes prepared a variety of engaging projects aligned with their current units of study. Students taking Biology created detailed models of plant and animal cells, while Chemistry students presented colorful displays of the periodic table. Those students taking Physics this semester built and tested their own airplanes, recorded flight speeds, and displayed their data alongside their models. There were also student projects that focused on lab safety and procedures, with the primary goal of helping others understand the importance of responsibility in scientific environments. In addition, some of our 8th, 9th and 10th grade students explored the five senses and created a project centered on the sense of sight, an extension of their ongoing unit on how the human body processes information through sensory input.
In Math, students demonstrated how numbers connect to everyday life through projects where mathematical reasoning is needed during real-world experiences. Seniors in Math Applications explored topics like banking and finance, while Geometry students focused on properties of shapes such as triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles. Those students taking Algebra worked through multi-step equations, and Pre-Algebra classes worked on calculating the area of irregular shapes.
Art classes contributed to this event by displaying beautiful landscape projects which added creativity and lots of great color to the room. The combination of artistic design, scientific exploration, and mathematical problem-solving made the fair a true celebration of interdisciplinary learning.
During the event, a special school-wide “Estimation Challenge” was done which added a level of fun, and friendly school-wide competition. Each student had to guess the number of candies in a jar for the chance to win a STEAM homework pass. The winner was announced by the Aaron School Spirit Council President at the end of the day, and this closed what was another amazing STEAM Fair at Aaron School.
The STEAM Fair highlighted not only the hard work of students but also the dedication of teachers who guided them throughout the process. Every project completed showed evidence of commitment to time, great effort, and teamwork. By engaging in hands-on, cross-disciplinary learning, students were able to see how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math come together to shape innovation and understanding.
Aaron School is proud of the creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills our students demonstrated through this year’s STEAM Fair. Events like this continue to remind us of the power of curiosity and the joy of learning, both being core values that define the Aaron School community.
