The Alliance Club at 45th street offers middle school students an opportunity to come together and work collaboratively on community service projects. Over the course of the school year, the Alliance Club groups focused on multiple community service projects that benefitted the students’ personal communities (e.g., Aaron School and New York City communities), as well as communities around the world. This year, the middle school Alliance Club focused its global community service project to help support the relief efforts in Ukraine. After reviewing and exploring the current needs of Ukraine, the country’s history, and current events, students decided that the International Medical Corps would be the best organization to donate towards. Students used their executive functioning skills to plan an online school store, where they sold items such as fidget spinners, pencils, and mini cars! At the end of the two-week sale period, the students had raised $306.50 for the International Medical Corps! The Alliance Club classes were so proud of themselves for raising money towards a great cause, as well as all of the amazing community service projects they have done over the entire year! We are excited to see what middle school students do for their community service projects next school year!
