Aaron School 30th Street students kicked off the start of the holiday season by participating in a Winter Festival event! The event was sponsored by the Aaron School Student Council, who created flyers and displayed them around the school. On the Thursday afternoon before winter break, the Aaron School Glee Club kicked off the event by performing several winter-themed songs for the school during lunch. Then, Aaron School students were divided into five, rotating groups that engaged in various activities that celebrated the sentiments of giving, joy, celebration, and teamwork that comprise the holiday season.

In the realm of giving, students designed and wrote holiday cards for soldiers. While creating the cards, the students reflected on the positive impact their cards would have on those who would not be able to spend the holidays with their families because they are serving overseas or far from their homes. To bring the sentiment of giving closer to home, each student hand-cut and illustrated a snowflake, and then wrote a personalized well-wish. Students had also created snowflakes during clubs, so students were able to write as many wishes as they desired! The snowflakes were hung around Aaron School, creating a positive and heartwarming winter-themed environment!

During the Winter Festival, students also participated in activities to celebrate the holiday season. The students baked and decorated delicious holiday cookies, and decorated ornaments, many of which will be given as gifts this season! Finally, the students played “Snow Ball,” a winter-themed Gaga, which is an Aaron School favorite! The students enthusiastically cheered each other on and celebrated those who won. Throughout the Winter Festival activities students shared stories of their own holiday traditions, discussed their plans for the winter break, and rejoiced in being able to sleep late over the next two weeks! The first annual Student Council sponsored Winter Festival was a huge success, and we hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and a happy new year!
